Fairuzons Glimmer of Darkness

"Good"

date: August 26, 2008

Yeah, it really fits your description of a videogame boss battle.

The distorted guitar creates some clipping, you should work on that and I don't think the riffs are too interesting compared to the really good lead guitar you have in there. Also, the recording quality of the leads is also much, much better.

I guess you added too much bass in the EQ-Settings

Other than that, a solid song. Thumbs up.

Vengeance (Adavant)

"Great vocals..."

date: August 26, 2008

...but man, why can't you make them LOUDER? Since they really are professional sounding, why put 'em so low in the mix? That's a sin! The shouts/growls are good too, reminding me of a more tame Amon Amarth - and they are perfectly placed in the mix.

Great piano as well, really like the tone of it, as well as the playing. The guitar is a bit quiet too and could be a little clearer, but the riffs, while not overly technical are very fitting ands srong.

Don't get me wrong, I'm just nitpicking, it's very good overall and to me, it sounds like a mix of Tristania, Nightwish and a little Crematory.

Good work. Got a record deal yet?

August 26, 2008

Author's Response:

Ha. I wish. Not many bands get recognition in AZ.

The mix had to be done quick so it was a little sketchy. Finished all five songs on our EP in three days total.

The guitar does get quiet at times and it's hard to hear his technicality, but it was good for what it is.

We are actually going to cover a nightwish song here pretty shortly. So keep checkin for that.

Thanks for the input. It always helps when people give positive critisism.

Shadow (demo)

"You need drums!"

submission: Shadow (demo)
date: August 26, 2008

Dude, that's a nifty blues lead you've got there in the beginning. Simple, but very nice.

It REALLY needs some slow drums to it though, would fit real nice in there.

Especially when that gallopping riff starts - it totally sounds like Viking-Metal era Bathory! If you had some clean singing for that part, as well as the drums...that would be damn good.

Keep working on it, has lots of potential!

Justice Reinvented

"Hello Lemmy"

submission: Justice Reinvented
date: August 26, 2008

Yeah, another Lemmy Kilminster 2.0 piece ;)

The drums, as well as the keys are quite well done, but also very clear and therefore they don't contrast very well with the raw-as-fuck guitar tone. Tthe composition itself is pretty original and I very much enjoy the bridge which is somewhat similar to a faster thrash break.

As I said in an earlier review, I really like the Lemmy-ish tone you got in your vocals. Just damn good - the lyrics are well written as well, my props to you, dude.

Overall, quite good and original, but work on your guitar tone and mixing and try to remove the clipping as well.

Thumbs up!

Horizon Blue

"Not bad"

submission: Horizon Blue
date: August 26, 2008

Yeah, while you keep it very simple, you have a nice melody going that just sticks in your head. There could be some more deeper sounds in the bass-less parts, but that's forgivable. I just wish there were some vocals in this as well, no matter if just distorted effects or actual singing, but it would give the whole thing some more range.

Not really my style, but tons better than what I've made when I used FL back then ^^

Keep it up.

Metal Backing Track

"Thrashin'"

date: August 26, 2008

Man, I'd love to rip it up on that track of yours..but sadly I'm much more of a rhythm guitar player than lead.... :P

Anyway, seriously good, thrashy backing track which has more than enough of it's own merit.

Very tight playing as well, really enjoyed it.

Good shit, as always :)

PS: Why didn't my vote count for more? That score is way too low.

August 26, 2008

Author's Response:

Thanks muchly man. 0 voters thrash the shit out of my stuff, because they hate me. haha. I guess. Ah well. I know what you mean about ripping it up. I couldn't do any leads that were much use, for this. But...I'm about to upload it anyways.
Thanks as always for your review, and support dude. You kick ass.\m/

Pinball map ( In Flames cover)

"Quite faithful to the original"

date: August 26, 2008

While you simplified a few parts of the riffs and the solo, it's still quite faithful to the original sound - well done man. Especially the solo sounds a tad different but not worse in any way.

It's also on In Flames' best album (I'm probably in the minority here, but who gives a fuck) and therefore I probably like it more than I should ;)

Very well done.

August 26, 2008

Author's Response:

Glad you liked it. I learned the song using a tablature, and not by ear. That probably explains the diffrences from the original. Maybe I'll do it by ear and correct tuning some time in the future :P

Evil Beginning (Preview)

"Amongst the Catacombs of Demigod?"

date: August 24, 2008

Yeah, really sounds a lot like a mix of old Nile/new Behemoth - I dig it, really nice and probably a preview for one of the best songs I've heard of yours so far :)

Can't wait to hear the full version! Get done with it!

August 25, 2008

Author's Response:

Thanks man. I can't say I was influenced much by them, as I haven't listened to either in a long ass time. But thanks like fuck, for the comparison!

I'll be done this soon. :D Thanks for the review, man!\m/

Total Body Dismemberment

"Not bad"

date: August 23, 2008

That totally sounds like a Digitech Death Metal pedal. I had that one a long time ago and frankly, it's only usable for raw black metal, haha.

I agree with you Kidd, it really isn't as good as your other collab stuff. But still not horrible at all, your playing is a tad sloppy at times but that's just a minor issue, as the vocals are, while quite unclear in the mix, very enjoyable.

Keep it up, and finish the technical stuff already :P

August 24, 2008

Author's Response:

Yeah my tone was craaaaap.
Vocals are good :P

Hahahaha, I'll Try, It'll take a while since all the pressure is on me, Because I write the riffs , then he does drums to 'em , Like Gorguts did.

Regurgitated Infant Flesh

"Stench of Human Skin!"

date: August 23, 2008

Hehe, a fun song really. Love the intro, fits very well and I love how it offends weak people like JosephR ^^

Good guttural vocals, some neat and straight-to-the point grind/death riffage. Again, it reminds me of a less absurd Mortician (good thing).

Keep up the good work guys!
